The Final Day

I had a late flight so I mulled around the hotel and airport before checking my luggage.

Right back where we started...

Applejack and a spice holder!

This dark photo was taken on the plane ride back!

And that is, how they say, all she wrote! Thank you for checking out the blog! If I travel someplace else you can BET I'll bring AJ with me! But right now it's back to the grind of boring old regular life!

April 27th

How far we've come in such a short time! But now is time to head back. ALL the way back to Narita!

One last night at the hotel in Narita...

April 26th

My final day in Kyoto Applejack and I paid a visit to The Kyoto International Manga Museum!

All I can say is if you're into manga, or anime, or an artist in general, it is a MUST see!
Applejack with one of my biggest influences!

Applejack with another of my biggest influences!

April 25th

My plans for the 24th fell through. Let me tell you! If you go to Kyoto and want to see the Kyoto International Manga Museum DO NOT GO ON A WEDNESDAY! They close every wednesday :(

So I organized plans with a new travel friend (who had the same first name as I) to go to Kobe for some Kobe beef followed by a trip to Kurama where we went to a Sulpher Hot Spring!

The mall at Shin-Kobe station. Great place to find Kobe beef!

April 23rd

I went shopping this day, so naturally there are no pictures of Applejack. But that night I met up with two other people from my tour group who were in Kyoto for one last night. We all went out to dinner and drinking after! It was an amazing time!

Plus Applejack got to hang out with her drinking buddy, Mongy!

Reunited and it feels so good!

April 22nd

The best part of Kyoto is it's only a train ride away from all sorts of other cool cities! Like Osaka, Kobe, and Nara!

April 21st

As it turns out every first sunday and 21st of the month Toji Temple had a flea market. I grew up going to flea markets all the time so I decided to check it out! Best part is, Toji Temple was a 5 minute walk from my hotel!
The inside was crowded with people. I bought a bronze dragon turtle! It was mostly stalls and such. The same thing you'd see at any flea market, except it was all japanese!

April 20th

Arashiyama was where we headed today! We went to the bamboo forest! Very cool path! Very calm and relaxing! Also very cool for such a hot day!

April 19th

The next day I ventured off to Kiyamizu-dera! I must've been unlucky that day because it was swarming with school kids! It's like every school in Kyoto chose THAT DAY to visit Kiyamizu!

April 18th

Officially Applejack was my only companion at this point, so we decided to hit a few places I wanted to see since before I flew over to Japan! Namely philosophers walks! But first! Silver Pavilion! (It was right there!)
This is actually the gateway to the Silver Pavilion. I got a lot weird looks from locals.

April 17th

The next day the tour group split up. Our tour was over :( But Applejack and I had a few weeks left so we trekked around Kyoto for a bit!

But first! I needed new accommodations!
Really? I'm sleeping in here?
I found a capsule hotel! Sort of. It had capsules. I booked ahead and when I came in this was what they gave me. Oh well! Off to adventure around Kyoto!

April 16th

The following day we hit a few more shrines, starting with a famous Zen Garden!

the garden had a beautiful garden before the actual rocks.
Can you see her?
Spoilers below!

April 15th

Finally we found ourselves in Kyoto! Lovely Kyoto! Beautiful Kyoto! I love this city!

First we went to Fushimi Inari Shrine! 1000 gates!

April 14th

The next day we biked to a few different shrines and temples around Kurashiki. It was a rather uneventful day. Don't get my wrong! The temples and shrines were all beautiful and lots of fun! I had just seen a LOT of temples and shrines at this point..

April 13th

We woke up early and took a bike ride around Takayama!
Applejack! Ready to ride!

April 12th

That morning we headed to a craftsman village called Hida No Sato! It was really neat! Well preserved and still had people working there! There was one carver in particular who made some amazing wood works!

April 11th

Matsumoto Castle was first on the agenda today!
Applejack in the garden outside.

April 10th

The following day we went up to the mountains to see the Snow Monkeys playing at the hot springs!
There was a long path to walk to get there

April 9th

The following day we went to Nagano! We went to Zenkoji Temple first!

April 8th

We were given the day to do what we want so we headed off to check out Mt. Fuji!
Taking the train to Mt. Fuji!

April 6th

In Shinjuku there's an office building with a viewing deck very high up. I forget which floor it is (I want to say 56th but I might be wrong). Anywho, it's not the top floor but it's REALLY high up!
Second time we've been so high up! Eh, AJ?

April 5th

I arrived to meet my tour group but no one was around. So I took a picture of AJ by the phone in my new hotel room!
Waiting for the phone call to come down to the lobby and meet everyone!

April 4th

It rained all day on the 3rd so I didn't get a chance to see or do anything. The 4th I made up for it with a trip to Tsukiji Fish Market, Tokyo Tower, and Tokyo University!

Waiting for the best sashimi of my life!

April 2nd

Having taken the first of the month off to switch rooms at my hostel and do laundry the next pictures of Applejack were the day after in Shibuya!

Applejack watching the madness that is Shibuya crossing!

March 31st

Applejack and I went to Harajuku to do some people watching!
Pictured, no people to watch.

Since no one was around we went to Meiji Shrine instead!

March 30th, 2013

We went to Akihabara on the 30th. Sadly it was mostly a shopping trip so there wasn't any pictures of Applejack in hanging out with Anime and Video game merch. But on the way back we stopped in at Ueno for some night Cherry Blossom Viewing!

March 29th, 2013

I woke up early the next day, still adjusting from Jet lag and all, so Applejack and I took a stroll around Asakusa at about 5AM-7AM!

Applejack and I taking a break at a bus stop.

The rest of the day we went to Ueno park to view the cherry blossoms.

March 28th, 2013

Because of the time difference and a 13 hour flight, the first picture I took of Applejack IN Japan was not on the 27th (the day I landed) but the 28th (the following morning.)

I actually brought a sketchbook/journal with me to write and draw in. But that's not what this blog is about. So Here is a picture of Applejack standing on my journal at the Narita Tobu Hotel!

Welcome!

Hello Everyone! I recently came back from a trip to Japan (in April of 2013). I meant to get this started sooner but, oh well! Them's the breaks, kid!

Anywho!

I took with me a My Little Pony mini fig. My favourite one; Applejack! I took pictures of her all over Japan! In front of famous things and just in places in general. I've complied the rest of the entries based on the dates the pictures were taken! I hope you Enjoy Applejacks trip as much as I did!
